What the result tells you.
A well-run month-end review takes 1–2 hours for a 3-store operator, 3–4 hours for a 10-store operator. The output is a one-page summary per store plus a portfolio-level summary, used as the basis for the next month's operational priorities. Skip the year-over-year section in your first 12 months; everything else is non-negotiable.
Use this when…
- Structuring your first month-end review.
- Standardizing review across multiple stores.
- Onboarding a new bookkeeper or controller.
- Building a board / advisor / lender summary.

Buyer guides
Multi-store gas station reporting that owners actually open.
Portfolio rollup across every store, real-time KPIs, per-store drill-down in one tap, regional-manager scoping, daily owner brief, replaces the cross-store spreadsheet most multi-location operators run today.
Convenience store reporting software for independents.
Category-level sales, tobacco margin, lottery exception reporting, manager performance, cash variance, and multi-location rollup, formatted as an owner brief instead of a 60-page report.

Why independents shouldn't use ERP.
ERPs assume an IT team, a training budget, and a procurement cycle. Independent operators have none of those. The cost of that mismatch isn't the license, it's the operational ceiling.
EOD in 5 minutes.
A teardown of the daily-close process at a typical independent gas station, what takes 45 minutes today, why it takes that long, and how the same close can be done in five minutes without cutting corners.
FAQs.
How long should the month-end review take?
1–2 hours per store for a small operator; less per store as you scale (the per-store work compresses with multi-store rollup). The first month-end takes longer because you're establishing the format; by month three it's a routine.
Should I share this with my CPA?
Yes. A well-structured month-end review is what your CPA wants to see before tax season. They'll spend less time chasing missing data; you'll spend less time answering follow-up questions.
Can this replace a board package for a small operator?
For solo or small-team operators without formal board governance, yes. For operators with outside investors, it's the foundation of a board package, add a strategic-priorities section on top.
