FAQs
What counts as "immutable" in your audit log?
Entries are append-only. Once written, no user (including admins) can modify or delete them. Edits to records create new audit entries showing before and after values; the original log line stays intact. The store of truth is write-once.
How long is data retained?
Default retention is 7 years (long enough for IRS and most state-tax audit windows). Operators on the Portfolio plan can configure longer retention; legal hold is also supported per-tenant.
Can outside accountants query the audit log?
Yes. A read-only "accountant" role can be issued at no extra cost. CSV exports are also available for any filter, so your CPA can pull (for example) all voids over $50 in November across all stores with two clicks.
